Sonic section:
13 new+1 replacement, two pieces promoting the upcoming Sonic Rush Adventure (Handheld subsection), then one nice one from the good old times (Megadrive), one celebrating Mario's 20th anniversary (thanks to Virgile for that one, other subsection), a tiny artwork extracted from Sonic Riders Zero Gravity Flash website (Riders subsection) and something extracted from Sonic Channel brand new CG wallpapers (thanks to Trueblue for pointing out, this goes into the Sonic Channel subsection). Finally, the replacement is for that Sonic Adventure 2 pose that had wrong colors (thanks to that person who corrected this and sent me one with correct colors). Oh, I was to forget that new Line Art subsection! It features some nice rare artwork (six pieces) in line art form. Thanks go to SonicHHog for this nice gift he made me a few years back.
Tails section:
3 new, one ripped from Sonic Rivals 2 Flash site and another ripped from Zero Gravity one. Both tiny for the moment. And I almost forgot about the one I extracted from a brand new Sonic Channel wallpaper.
Knuckles section:
1 new, a tiny Knuckles CG extracted from Rivals 2 Flash website (Other subsection).
Miscellaneous section:
1 new, a nearly stamp-sized Silver CG extracted from Rivals 2 Flash website.
Shadow section:
1 new, a nearly stamp-sized Shadow CG extracted from Rivals 2 Flash website.
Babylon Rogues section:
1 new, a tiny Jet CG extracted from Zero Gravity Flash website.
Robots section:
1 new, probably the last drawn artwork featured on a Sonic Channel wallpaper that I extracted here.
Groups section:
1 new, something really nice featuring all characters from Sonic Rush Adventure. This was originally the well known group image with the blue background but the one I had the opportunity to get on Sega-Press was a PSD with separate layers for the character group and the background.
Logos section:
3 new+1 replacement, Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, Sonic Rivals 2 and Sonic Rush Adventure (in Japanese) respectively. But in tiny size only for the moment. The replacement goes for the Western Sonic Rush Adventure logo that I found in a decent EPS version.
Other info:
Yes, the Sonic Art Archive has come back after the incident the SGMC portal was victim in July (thank you, OrdosAlpha for giving me back my FTP account). This is for the good news. The bad news is perhaps the disappointing amount of new things despite the site not having been updated for four months. Well, this explains easily: laziness. I know I forgot to extract the Knuckles CG from the Sonic Channel wallpaper and some other things I still remain to do, but as you the song by heart now, they'll probably come later. :P

Sonic section:
3 new, the little Sonic from the upcoming Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games game (Handheld subsection), another SSR (Secret Rings) artwork (Wii and Nextgen) and finally the Sonic promo image for the upcoming Sonic Rush Adventure game (Handheld).
Tails section:
1 replacement, the Sonic Channel one on which I finally removed the circles (Other subsection).
Shadow section:
1 replacement, another Sonic Channel artwork on which I finally removed the circles.
Miscellaneous section:
1 new, the new Tikal artwork from Sonic Channel.
Robots section:
3 new, a nice Metal Sonic from Heroes (thanks to whoever for this one), the new Emerl artwork from Sonic Channel and a promo image from the upcoming Sonic Rush Adventure. It features a new character called Whiskers.
Logos section:
2 new, the Japanese logo of SSR (unfortunately a bit small, Wii and Nextgen subsection), the logo from Mario And Sonic At The Olympic games and a reasonably sized logo of Sonic Rush Adventure (found on Sega-Press). The last two go into the Handheld subsection.
Other info:
This one was a bit short but I had to do it because of new games coming. Some may have noticed wrongly named artworks related to Secret Rings. I may simply rename all pictures beginning by "satr", "sotr" or "sastr" with the "ssr" prefix in the future. As usual, artworks I still have to put will come later. :P
11 Mar 2007 Author: Dioxaz Sonic section: 10 new+2 replacements+13 moved, lots of SNG artwork thanks to Sonic Stadium and Sega-Press (yes, I now have an account there, thanks to ROM, the guy from Sega who mailed me). There's also a nice Sonic from SATR (Sonic And The Secret Rings, the new Wii game) I extracted from a wallpaper, something I scanned from the back of the of the PC version of SMC+ ("Mega Collection and Heroes" subsection) box, an anniversary artwork extracted from a Sonic City wallpaper ("Other" subsection) and a nice Sonic Riders one, ripped from a wallpaper again. And I was to forget about a new Sonic Rivals pose that goes into the "Handheld" subsection. The replacement goes for the main SNG artwork for Sonic. Thanks to SSUK (who also have an account on Sega-Press but had it before me), I was able put a hand on big versions of the Sonic, Silver and Shadow from SNG you all know. Another replacement concerns the early Wild Fire Sonic because I found a nice bigger and transparent version of it on Sega-Press. You may also notice the huge cleanup into the Sonic section. I created many sections such as "Sonic Channel", "Sonic Riders", "SonicX", etc. because I was sick putting art into the "Other" section all the time. Artworks are now sorted better and it will be easier to find them.
Tails section: 1 replacement, the main artwork from SNG replaced by a bigger version, found on the SegaPR FTP ("Other" subsection).
Knuckles section: 2 new, they're Sonic Rivals artworks and were presumably ripped from the Sonic Rivals flash website by someone (but I cleaned and improved the transparency however). You'll find them into the "Other" subsection).
Amy section: 1 replacement, the SNG tiny artwork that I replaced by a slightly bigger version I extracted from an SNG wallpaper (unfortunately, the sharp extraction method I used contrasts a bit with the blurry character, sorry).
Eggman section: 1 new, a portion of an artwork from SNG, ripped (not by me) from the SNG flash website.
Shadow section: 1 replacement, a bigger version of the main SNG artwork (see "Sonic" description above for details).
Miscellaneous section: 9 new+1 replacement, lots of characters ripped from the SNG flash site, some from Sonic Channel wallpapers (thanks to Louis, by mail, for brilliantly extracting Silver, others were extracted by me), two Silver pieces from Rivals and a bigger version of the main Silver artwork from SNG (again, see "Sonic" above for details).
Robots section: 2 new, the Omega artwork from SNG (ripped from the flash SNG website again, not by me) and an E102 Gamma extracted from its Sonic Channel wallpaper (this time, by me :P).
Badniks section: 4 new, all are badniks artworks from SNG. Please not that I will not extract all of them because Sega released too much of these. Thanks to people who showed them on various places.
Logos section: 3 new, nothing more than the Secret Rings logo ("Wii and Nextgen" subsection) plus some pieces I scanned and did my best to clean (unfortunately, not with much success to my taste), I mean the Sonic R logo and the Sonic Adventure 2 trial one ("Miscellaneous" subsection for the former and "Dreamcast" section for the latter, both scanned from box arts or CD art for SA2 trial).
Other info: Whoa! True Blue (from TSS), you're the hero! Thank you very much for getting me out of that laziness and reduced the update delay from seven to four months (this is still bad but better). Thank you for giving me enough motivation to extract most of the late artworks I had to extract, especially the Riders one and that anniversary from the Sega City wallpaper. Also, thanks to ROM for giving me an account on Sega Press. Thanks also to Shock Rabbit, one of the artists from Concept Mobius, who nicely gave me nice re-creations of Blaze and Sonic. Indeed, as usual, I may missed some important artwork or artwork that I'm late on (such as the nice Nights from Sonic Riders Malan gave me), they'll simply come later but I'm just ignoring when. :P
Another and sad note, you'll notice that the Tails Prod link doesn't work anymore. That's due to the fact the TailS_tff's domain expired and he currently doesn't have the time to take care of his site at all.

Sonic section: 11 new+2 replacements, the two replacements are the two Sonic Channel artworks on which I removed the circles, using the best method I could. As a result, it's possibly the smoothest extraction I've seen so far for these. The new pieces are two coming from the Saturn era (thanks to Yasmine for these), They go into the "Other" subsetion. To finish with "Other" subsection, something found on Sega of Europe press server (during its short public opening, right before E3): the "anniversary Sonic". On that SoE FTP, there were more surprises, such as the true original Sonic from 1991 ("Megadrive" subsection) and something dating from the SA2 Battle era ("Sonic Adventure 2" subsection). In the new subsection called "Handheld" ("GBA and DS" renamed), let's welcome the Sonic promo artwork for the upcoming PSP game, Sonic Rivals. Another new subsection, the "Wii and Nextgen" one where we'll find all Nextgen artworks. One is from the "Wild Fire" era, one is for Sonic Nextgen, and the last one for Secrets Of The Rings (thanks to Alexei for attempting to smooth the transparency for this one). All those Nextgen artworks were extracted from SWF files, which explains why the transparency needed to be reworked (as usual). Ah, I almost forgot those three promotional artworks for the upcoming Sonic Genesis game for the GBA ("Megadrive" subsection). They were found on the SegaPR FTP, thanks go indirectly to Hell Pé for mentioning them.
Tails section: 3 new, two lovely pieces recreated and donated by TailS_tff and presumably dating from the Megadrive era and one promo artwork for the upcoming Sonic Nextgen game (ripped from an SWF file, source: SNG Japanese official website).
Knuckles section: 1 new, coming from a Sonic Channel wallpaper on which I finally removed the circles behind.
Cream section: 1 replacement, the old Sonic Channel artwork on which I finally decided to remove the circle behind.
Eggman section: 1 new, this is the Eggman Nega from Sonic Rush. Thanks to the person who submitted this one (can't remember, it was long ago already).
Shadow section: 2 new, something coming from the official SNG website and a promo artwork for Sonic Rivals.
Chaotix section: 3 new, extracted from Sonic Channel wallpapers. I also removed the circles in the background.
Babylon Rogues section: 3 New, Attention, new section! Those three artworks were extracted from Sonic Channel wallpapers. I also removed the circles in the background.
Miscellaneous section: 3 New+8 moved, the three new are a new Blaze pose, a Silver and an Elise artwork coming from the SNG official website. I had to rework the transparency on those of course. :P
Also, I plan to add that lovely Riders-ish NiGHTS Malan gave me, but I must add transparency to it first (and on Riders-styled artworks, It's not an easy task ^^;). Also note that all Babylon Rogues artworks that were previously there were moved into the new section above.
Robots section: 1 new, the Omega artwork from Sonic Channel on which I also took the time to remove the circle behind.
Badniks section: 1 new, an artwork for Sonic Nextgen. It's called Venoom. Also, please don't mail about the other ones I didn't put. They're a pain to extract. Of course, if you tried to extract them and result is up to my standards, they're welcome.
Logos section: 6 new, one was ripped from a PDF file and is nothing less than the blue Sonic head featured on a tee-shirt transfer we can find on the Sonic-City website ("Basic" subsection), two are (finally!!!) logos for Sonic's 15th anniversary (the international version and a French version I recreated according to a poster, "Event" subsection), one is the Sonic Rivals logo (thanks go to Xose, but I needed to rework the transparency/extraction on it, it goes into the new "Handheld" subsection), another one is a lovely Sonic CD logo found on the SoE FTP, and finally, we have the Sonic Nextgen logo (thanks to Xose for this one, too) into the new "Wii and Nextgen" subsection.
Other info:
As you can judge, laziness made deeper disasters to me as the last update is already seven months old. Anyway, I'd like to thank anyone who contributed to the archive even if the said contributions weren't all featured in this update. I'd also like to thank all the persons who tried to submit extracted versions of Sonic Channel artworks with more or less success (even if I finally did the job myself, some attempts were useful). Five are still remaining (Tails, Shadow, Rouge, Eggman and Chao), they'll come later. I also got bunches of artwork from Yasmine and other people, they'll simply come another day. I plan to do another update quickly after this one anyway. We also welcome some new affiliates. I added their button some time ago already.

Last minute: I've just realized that I missed the brand new Super Sonic artwork from Sonic Channel by a only a few days. And I couldn't let myself missing an opportunity of that kind (the first official artwork of Super Sonic, ever!). So here it is, freshly ripped, you'll find it into the 'Sonic' section ('Other' subsection), naturally. Anyway, I'd like to thank people of SSMB forums for mentionning it and Guess_who for reminding it to me and even offering an extracted version (unfortunatly, at the same moment I was doing mine which was, without bragging, better :P).
Sonic section:
6 artworks+1 replacement, the new concern three gorgeous "3D Blast" pieces ('Other' section). One is from an old wallpaper and the others from SonicHHog "famous" Sonic 3D Blast promo disc. The replacement is for a scan that I thought coming from 10th anniversary booklet (thank you, KojiChan for your help... and she also made that scan ^^). There was similar piece (re-created) on TailStff's website so I naturally took it :P. It goes in 'Sonic Adventure 2' section (instead of SA1, I placed it in the wrong place the first time). And, oh, I was to forget that 2006 Sonic I extracted from a Sonic Channel JPEG (thanks to Xnic, from TSS, for reminding me that). That's not over, I missed that piece of choice by only a few days and these are the things that can't be missed! The first Super Sonic official artwork, ever, ripped from the brand new Sonic Channel wallpaper. you'll find it into the 'Other' section.
Tails section:
2 artworks, one had been very carefully extracted by myself from a French poster that I also scanned ('Other' section) and the other is a re-creation by TailStff (from his website, see the affiliates). It goes into the 'Sonic Adventure' section. I was to forget thanking Amisay for originally showing the poster on the Sonic-online forum (and even offering help). Without his topic, I wouldn't even be aware of the existance of that poster.
Chao section:
2 artworks+1 replacement, the two new being extracted by me from Sonic Channels wallpapers and the replacement for the "Angel Chao" piece (there also was a nice re-creation by TailStff on his website).
Cream section:
1 artwork, coming from the Japanese Sonic Riders website in flash. Thanks go to Xose for ripping all the content and providing it on a torrent on www.soniconthe.net.
Eggman section:
1 artwork, same as above.
Shadow section:
2 artworks, same as above for the Sonic Riders-ish Shadow. The other I extracted naturally comes from a Sonic Channel wallpaper.
Miscellaneous section:
14 artworks, oh my, what happened?! What happen when you become lazy at the point of not taking care of the Sonic Art Archive for about three months. OK, let's sum up: The Cosmo, Rouge and Sally pieces are re-creations by TailStff. Yes, not only he offered me that nice full-res Cosmo as a gift (see description of Koji's Vanilla re-creation for more details), but he also accepted to re-do my Sally from scratch and to offer a lot his free time in re-creating a very nice artwork of Rouge from SA2B. All I can say is that they're really nice rewards for me (two of my favourite characters ^^). Then, we have two Jet artworks and a Storm (the first from a flash, the other two from hi-res JPEGs), a unusual Maria artwork (thank you, Bruss Green!), a brand new Wave I extracted from the same poster as the one featuring also Tails. We also welcome something rather unusual because it doesn't represent any character we know from Sonic games, and not even from Sonic Team games. It's an artwork Yuji Uekawa drew for the 2001 edition of the Tokyo Game Show. It's kind of little boy with a Sonic haircut standing in front of sonic-style circles, drawn and look in a Sonic style, too. A human version of Sonic? Anyway, big thanks to AnaSPP on the CulT for having provided me a reconstituted version of it. I was able to reconstruct some other missing parts this way ^^. And let's not forget that nice Lumina from Sonic Shuffle. It was hosted on a website Yasmine (via mail) suggested me to visit long long time ago (I recently checked for that website again and it's dead :P). And, the biggest thing of all! Yes, after tailStff, Kojichan offered me another really nice gift, an awesome CGing of of Vanilla which was, as for TailStff's Cosmo re-creation, some pencil line art from genuine concept drawings made by Ueakawa for Sonic X!! Yes, IT IS THAT! They used to belong to Solly before she sold them to Adamis, who scanned them (or is it Solly?) and he nicely asked Koji to do something with the "Vanilla" one... if I'm not mistaken (and no, that's not the longest comment on the Sonic Art Archive ^^;;).
Robots section:
2 artworks, rips from Sonic Riders Japanese website in flash, again, by Xose.
Flickies section:
6 artworks, some brand new things here since I'm now putting not only flickies but also Sonic's early friends (the Japanese ones, you can see them on Sonic 1 box arts and some early Sonic mangas I presume). And the section has its name changed into 'Flickies and early friends' now. Thanks to someone under the name Camilla Standard for (indirectly) recalling them to me. Also thanks to Shadowhedgy for his torrent featuring all bitmaps from Sonic Jam. Yes, these artworks were extracted from those Sonic Jam bitmaps.
Logos section:
10 logos, four of them have been included into a brand new section, "GUN and Project Shadow". They're nice re-creations of GUN and Project Shadow logos made by KojiChan (thank you for the FLAs!!). As I had no idea where to put them, I created that section. The other concern four "never seen before" Sonic 3D Blast logos in plain 3D ('Miscellaneous' section), provided by SonicHHog with help of his promo disc and a nice re-creation of an official Sonic X-Treme logo Guess_who made (and presented on Chris Senn's forums). But SonicHHog's disc also featured a nice drop-shadowed Sonic CD logo ('MegaDrive' section), which is here, now ;). Finally, there's a last one, a 10th anniversary cake featuring Sonic, provided by someone I can't remember by mail. I had to do a nice sophisticated extraction however, as it was a GIF and there as a halo around the logo ('Event' section).
Other info:
Well, you can judge by yourself the disaster caused by laziness: three months without any update. This time I took the opportunity to add nearly all pieces SonicHHog provided me from his Sonic 3D Blast promo disc once for all. Update was being dedicated to him but as TailStff and Kojichan sent me big things, too, I didn't know where to go. This way, one big thing is made and this is my way to show respect to him (lol, I couldn't find better words so I wrote that). I also take the opportunity to thank The Finest Shadow for mentioning an important point about hosting artworks from the Sonic Art Archive on one's personal website. This point has been added into the FAQ. Also, some will mention that I forgot Sonic and Jet artworks from the recent wallpapers Sonc Team made. I didn't. They're simply too hard to extract. I have to thank Alex Smith/Echofive5 for trying to extract the Sonic one. But in its current form, I need to improve the extraction (must make the entire image transparent and add a vector shape under it... takes too much time :P). And if my crappy habit of crediting every single person/contributor in my comments is getting on your nerves, I can do nothing for you. You can't change a "Maniac of PNG". :P

My email address have changed!
If you want to provide artwork for the Sonic Art Archive, you'll have to mail here: dioxaz@libertysurf.fr (actually, my previous address had been blacklisted so I can't receive anymore with it). This one is perfectly working and is also my default mailbox if you want to mail me personally. Accessorily, but I think you already noticed that before (as I already changed it both on the website intro paragraph and into the "About the site" section), Hivebrain's address is now leonwhite1@gmail.com.
Please take note of this.

The 'Tails_tff' update!!
Sonic section:
3 artworks+2 replacements, the three new artworks are promotional pieces for the upcoming Sonic Riders game (one of them was a really huge-resolution JPEG with no transparency and with irregular edges so it was a bit tricky to extract it, more info at the end). Two of them come from Sega FTP and one from the Sonic Riders American flash website (I'd like to thank Kyle, 'Kat in the hat', Gamerguy and Adamis for their direct or indirect contribution anyway). All go into the 'Other' subsection.
The replacements concern a Sonic Advance artwork and a Sonic Adventure 2 one, gracefully re-created by Tails_tff and especially offered to me for the Sonic Art Archive! Note, for the last one, that it replaces something I scanned, cleaned and extracted during the early days of the Art Archive (even if I did my best at the time, that image looks now pathetic compared to Tails_tff's awesome re-creation).
Tails section:
2 artworks, the first one coming from the US Sonic Riders flash site (thanks go to the same persons mentioned above) and the second one being an old but so-desired piece from Sonic Adventure 2. Big thanks to Tails_tff for providing a cleaned version of that now really rare hi-res JPEG that Sega used to provide on its FTP. The Riders artworks can be found into the 'Other' subsection.
Knuckles section:
3 artworks+1 replacement, two of them are Sonic Riders promotional art (one from the Sega FTP and the second from that US flash website -- into the 'Other' subsection again), the third one is another rare and lost SA2 artwork and the replacement concern an old Sonic Advance piece, both nicely offered by Tails_tff (the Advance one has been re-created by himself). As for the other Riders artworks, I'd like to thank the same persons again for providing them to me, or pointing links into forums (even if I finally found my artworks on Sega FTP).
Amy section:
1 artwork+2 replacements, the artwork comes from the Japanese Sonic Riders flash site this time (thanks go to Xose and Adamis for pointing it on forums and Tails_tff for mailing it to me). The two replacements concern a Sonic Adventure 2 artwork and a Sonic Advance one. Both are brilliant re-creations by this "French fox" ;). Having those pieces sound like being in heaven for me ^^.
Chao section:
1 replacement, again coming from a rare and lost JPEG, thanks to the "French fox". This is the "normal chao" and replaces something Hivebrain ripped during the early days of the art archive.
Eggman section:
1 replacement, lol, you know the song now. This was also a lost hi-res JPEG that Tails_tff extracted and cleaned for me ^^. (also, I'm recalling that I forgot a Riders Eggman that Adamis showed on a forum, it will come later)
Shadow section:
2 artworks+2 replacements, the two artworks are remains of the last update. I simply forgot them. This is now fixed (they are 'Shadow the hedgehog' artworks and come from Sega FTP). The two replacements are two lost pieces from Sonic Adventure 2, nicely offered by Tails_tff again (the "front" pose brilliantly re-created by himself ^^).
Miscellaneous section:
3 artworks+1 replacement, the artworks are Sonic Riders artwork found on Sega FTP. Anyway, I'd like to thank Kyle, by mail, for having made the effort of removing watermarks on original IGN images. This was really appreciable (the same go for other Riders artworks he provided me). The replacement concern nothing more than that beloved (for me) Rouge the bat pose from Sonic Adventure 2! And re-created by his Majesty tails_tff! This one (as well as for the others) is an old dream becoming true.
Robots section:
1 artwork+1 replacement, both were provided by Tails_tff and come from lost hi-res JPEGs Sega released one day. One of them replaces an existing SA2 boss artwork and the other is Tails' walker (2D-style).
Flickies section:
1 artwork, this one is another extract of the cool things Sonichhog (yes, I finally know his real nick, as he's got a deviantArt gallery now ^^) offered me and coming from his Sonic 3D Blast promo disc. I think the next update will be his.
Groups section:
1 artwork, the Babylon Rogues team, reconstituted by myself from the hi-res JPEGs found on Sega FTP. I also got from Kyle the same artwork, but coming from IGN with the watermark removed by herself. I'd like to thank him for his contribution anyway (and my apologizes for gender-mistaking :P).
Other info:
Fooo... This one was huge... really huge!! So, I may have forgot some people to credit in my news but as there were many many new pieces to add, don't blame me for that. Just a last note about Sonic Riders artworks found on Sega FTP: all were hi-res or avg-res JPEGs that I had to clean and extract of course. four of them were in a so huge resolution that it was a pain to extract (Jet, Knuckles, Sonic and Storm on their overboards) and and I only took Sonic for the moment because of that.
Other infos are the possible visual lifting I plan for the site and that so-wanted 'Sonichhog' update (yes, I'm really really that late...).
PS: I was agreeably surprised to see artworks coming from "my" Sonic Art Archive into the pages of the new French 'Sonic magazine' (Adamis made a topic about it on Simon Wai's Sonic 2 beta forums) even if they're not meant for a press usage. This demonstrates how far the utility of this site can go. There was also one odd glitch however, because they were printed too dark. I don't really know if this comes from my PNGs, whatever they have gamma correction or not, but the software used here (Quark Xpress? InDesign?) behaved strangely with colour correction (their tool didn't seem to support alpha channels by the way). On the opposite, the rare TIFFs they used didn't have that problem :P.

The 'Shadow' update
Sonic section:
1 artwork, the 'Shadow the hedgehog' Sonic artwork. It comes from a flash movie. You'll find it into the 'Other' subsection.
Tails section:
2 artworks, the 'Shadow the hedgehog' Tails artwork, coming from a PSD file (hosted on Sega FTP). More precision into the 'Other info' paragraph at the end, the same goes for other 'Shadow' character artworks you'll find in this update as well. The second is a Sonic Riders artwork found at the IGN website. The watermark wasn't covering Tails, that's why I decided to extract and clean it. Both go into the 'Other' subsection again.
Knuckles section:
1 artwork, the 'Shadow the hedgehog' Knuckles artwork, coming from a PSD file again. Into the 'Other' subsection.
Amy section:
1 artwork, the 'Shadow the hedgehog' Amy artwork, coming from a PSD file again.
Cream and Cheese section:
1 artwork, ripped from a Sonic Channel wallpaper. I must thank Jon (by email), here, for providing me an optimized PNG with alpha channel (and he did a good job) as I completely forgot about this wallpaper.
Eggman section:
1 artwork, another 'Shadow the hedgehog' artwork, coming from a PSD file.
Chaotix section:
3 artworks, all are 'Shadow' character artworks coming from PSD files. As for all others of that kind, more precision at the end ('Other info' paragraph).
Miscellaneous section:
4 artworks, three are 'Shadow' artworks. They are respectively Rouge and two other villains (well, I think they're villains but I'm not sure) that I didn't know where to put on the site. The last one is a new character from Sonic Riders, Wave the swallow. Please note that I didn't take all the 'Riders' artworks present on IGN because of that annoying watermark at the bottom of all images (and they're originally really bad JPEGs). I only took those where the watermark didn't mask any part of the character.
Logos section:
1 logo+1 replacement, the new logo is nothing less than the re-creation I made of the Sonic Rush official logo. Some of you may have seen it on Sonic 2 Beta forums (Guess_who even promised me an improved version of it but I'm still waiting). Even if it's not 100-percent accurate and flawless, it's still convincing enough. You'll find it into the new 'GBA and DS' subsection. The replacement concern a 'Sonic & Knuckles' logo that I replaced by a bigger version I found on Sega FTP. Into the 'MegaDrive' subsection of course.
Other info:
Now, I'm going to give you precisions about all the Shadow character artworks I've introduced through this update. Firstly, I must thank several persons for either providing them to me or pointing links to find them. The first person I must thank is Nattherat, via email, who pointed me links to Team Artail. Then, goes Artie for having been the first to offer them in a decent resolution (but still in JPEG). I even asked him for the PSDs by emailing him, but he never replied (probably too busy, or my email was too long). Also, I hadn't been able to register to his forum/message board (I would at least have shown my wallpapers there but, hey, that's not the end of the world). Finally, the last person I must thank is Gamerguy who pointed links to download full-res PSDs of these (on Sega FTP) on Sonic 2 Beta forums and also someone who recalled me those links on the SCARZ forums, McAleeCh. And all that was forgetting about, indeed, Sega, for providing all that stuff on their FTP.
I've got some other precision about these images. This website will be the one and only place to have them in full quality with perfect alpha transparency. Let me say why: all artworks had transparency bugs such as black or white halos around edges (the guys at the graphic/CG department probably messed up themselves with non-premultiplied and premultiplied alpha channels). You can still find them elsewhere in better resolutions than the ones offered here but in JPEG and with no transparency (and also, trying to extract them will not give you accurate results). So, to sum up, you'll have the choice between my fully-optimized-but-huge PNGs and the somewhat light hi-res JPEGs other sites offer. Why did I say all that? Because of that transparency bug, some artworks (such as the Charmy one) were a huge pain to extract, as it took long before I could render the transparency well.
Well, I hope I haven't been too long. Anyway, I'm not forcing you to read all this. ^^

The 'new server' update
Sonic section:
1 artwork+2 replacements, the artwork been ripped from one of the multiple Sonic Channel wallpapers available on the site of the same name. You'll find it into the 'Other' subsection.
The replacements concern one SA2B artwork that you'll find into the 'SA2' subsection (originally ripped from a wallpaper, now in a bigger and better version thanks to Yasmine) and one Sonic Rush artwork that you'll find into the new 'GBA and DS' subsection (Sega recently uploaded hi-res PSDs of Sonic and Blaze artworks on their FTP).
Tails section:
1 artwork, it comes from a Sonic Channel wallpaper, too (as long as other character artworks you'll find in this update). Into the 'Other' subsection again.
Knuckles section:
1 artwork, ripped from a Sonic Channel wallpaper ('Other' subsection).
Amy section:
1 artwork, ripped from a Sonic Channel wallpaper again.
Eggman section:
1 artwork, ripped from a Sonic Channel wallpaper again.
Shadow section:
1 replacement, it's the poor extraction I made of the official 'Shadow with a gun' artwork from the Shadow game (which was an average-res JPEG) that I replaced by something that was originally a hi-res TIFF (yes, Sega's got some TIFFs in their 'Digital Life' Shadow directory ^^). Note that the alpha channel didn't blend correctly on the original version, I tried to fix that somewhat.
Miscellaneous section:
1 artwork+1 replacement, a "revamped" version of a very rare Sally Acorn artwork (from the Archie comic and the SatAM/Sonic and Sally cartoon) provided by Yasmine. "Revamped" is a really big word because of my limited skills in vector design. That's why I ask you, Sonic fans, if someone can make me a better-looking version of it (you can download the original Adobe Illustrator file here). The replacement concern nothing less than that famous official 'Blaze the cat' artwork (the real, not the fake one) that Sega recently and generously uploaded as a full-res PSD file on their FTP on November 9th.
flickies section:
1 artwork, provided by Cyborsaga (the designer of the most famous 'Sonic the hedgehog' Windows 95 theme). This is one of the multiple cool things (that will be soon here) he nicely "offered" me and coming from his 'Sonic 3D Blast' promo disc.
Groups section:
2 artworks, they both come from Rlan's Video Game Art Archive website (an SAA-like, but for all video games and more general purposes). Note that Rlan's ones have completely wrong colors (probably a bad CMYK-to-RGB conversion) and I had to restore them in their original look as much as I could (using lots of do-it-yourself methods
and playing around with color profile conversion).
Logos section:
4 logos, the Sonic Riders logos, coming from an EPS file found on Sega FTP. You'll find them into the 'GameCube and Playstation2' subsection.
Other info:
OK. I know that I'm late, that I deserve kicks for being so lazy. Actually, the initial updates I planned to do are still maintained, but they'll come later. The fact that I stopped studies (I finally got my 2-year IT degree) and that I must find a job made me getting a bit away from the net.
Also, I couldn't let an event such as the tranfer of SSRG to a new server without an update. This way, I prove that I still care of this website, which I consider important for the community.
A last thing about affiliates. I noticed that the Greg2K and Rika_chou links have been dead for ages and I didn't hear again about them from the persons who maintain those sites. I just want to know if they were dropped or if they simply moved to another place. Also, I'd like to be affiliated with Rlan's VGAA website
(along with SOST, I still remember a proposal from Rlan but it's old). Of course, only if he agrees with such an idea. I think that more people will know VGAA better this way and people who want higher-quality Sonic artworks and used to VGAA will know Sonic Art Archive better.
PS: About persons who recently submitted artworks on SCARZ forums, I just want to inform them that I effectively read their posts (in the topic related to SAA) and want to thank them for their contribution and their support, too. I'll put their submissions here, but another day, indeed. The problem is that I'm afraid of having missed a few things since the CuLT seems to be now dead.

Minor update (fixes)
Miscellaneous section:
1 artwork, I finally decided to put the original version of that 'Blaze the cat' artwork. Actually, the one I was hosting was taken from a really brilliant edit (and fake) made by Cyberomer. Note that I didn't replace it. I kept it because Cyb's fake has its own charm. Personally, I prefer seeing her smile, don't you? So, I let you the choice between the two (the official or the fake). :P
Logos section:
2 fixes, they concern Sonic The Fighters character title cards. There were some extraction mistakes on Sonic and Knuckles ones (holes into the 'O' for Sonic and into the 'C' for Knuckles weren't transparent). My apologizes for this.
Other info:
Well, well, you didn't have the time to realize it, but the fate of this site had been threatened a month ago! So, I would thank Hikaru Shindou (the webmaster of www.halo-arena.net) as much as I can. Actually, she helped me to keep the site alive by convincing Sega of America of not sending me a mail asking me to close it. Apparently, they said it was OK as long as I keep the legal notice at the bottom of the pages (yes, that's why I had to add it at the last minute ^^). Thank you very much, Hikaru!!
Other news are the next coming updates: the 'Rlan and Yasmine' one and right after it, the 'Cyborsaga' one (yes, from today, I'm giving names to my updates). Cyborsaga (aka Andy) is nothing less than the creator of the most popular Sonic The Hedgehog desktop theme for Windows. He once worked for Sega and gave me a bunch of artworks that were included on a Sonic 3D Blast promotional disc. Logically, you'll see the most exploitable ones into the site (and there do is some decent stuff).
Ah, this may be the occasion for me to inaugurate two new sections: 'High resolution' and 'Landscape/Scenes'. The first one will feature full resolution PNGs of some artworks. As they'll be really huge (over 1.5MB), they'll not be hosted on Shadowsoft Games, in order to preserve bandwidth. The second one will feature CG or artworks of backgrounds, landscapes or scenes coming from or designed for Sonic games (there were some of that kind into Andy's Sonic 3D disc, which justify this section). I might create a box art section, too. It would feature only full quality (I insist on "full") box art. Finally, I think that the 'Low quality' section will be most likely deleted. Those robots really need to be cleaned and part of the 'Robots' section, instead of lying in that pretty useless section.
Oh... and sorry if I was too long... :/

The E3 update!!
Sonic section:
3 artworks, one comes from the upcoming DS game Sonic Rush (I found it on Sega FTP), another one was ripped from a Sonic Channel flash movie and the last one was directly ripped from the arcade game Sonic The Fighters by Try Again. Respectively into 'GBA' and 'Other' subsections.
Tails section:
1 artwork, it was ripped from the arcade game Sonic The Fighters by Try Again. Into the 'Other' subsection.
Knuckles section:
1 artwork, ripped from Sonic The Fighters, thanks go to Try Again. Into the 'Other' subsection.
Amy section:
1 artwork, another rip from Sonic The Fighters from Try Again.
Shadow section:
2 artworks, the first one is nothing less than the cover artwork, except that it was featured on a white background, which made my extraction easier of course ;). I found it on the Sega FTP. I ripped the second from the Flash movie that plays when you're surfing on the official website of the upcoming Shadow the hedgehog game.
Chaotix section:
1 artwork, yet another rip from Sonic The Fighters by Try Again. This time, it's Espio the chameleon.
Miscellaneous section:
4 artworks, the first one is nothing less than Blaze the cat (a KojiChao rip-off by Sega?), the second main character from the upcoming Sonic Rush game. She'll assist Sonic into his new adventure. Only Sonic and Blaze will be playable into the game. The three other artworks were ripped from Sonic The Fighters by Try Again: they're Fang the sniper, Bean the dynamite and Bark the polerbear.
[EDIT]lol, I've been tricked by Cyberomer!! Actually, the version of the 'Blaze the cat' artwork I extracted and hosted here is a slightly altered version made by Cyberomer (from the French site Planète-Sonic or PSo) of the original one that Sega released a few days ago. Yes, you can laugh as loud as you can. The image will be soon replaced by the correct one.
Groups section:
1 artwork, a little masterpiece from our Sonic Team that drastically changes from the vector-based artworks we've been bearing during those seven last years. This one comes back to the roots of the good old times. I found it on Sega FTP. It was a pain to extract it because of supposed halos into the artwork. I finally decided to give it a neat extraction, rather that re-adding "invented" or presupposed halos.
Logos section:
11 logos, the eight first ones were ripped from Sonic The Fighters, thanks to Try Again ('Basic' subsection). Then, comes the title screen logo, ripped by me ('Miscellaneous' subsection). And finally, remain all the logos coming from exclusive and upcoming games seen at the E3 show: Shadow The Hedgehog (the main logo and its standalone spin), and Sonic Gems (lacks Sonic Rush because the only image I found was in really poor quality). I found them on Sega FTP, except for the standalone Shadow spin I ripped from the official Shadow website in Flash. You can find them in the the 'GameCube and Playstation2' subsection.
Other info:
Whoa! I overcame my laziness! Yes, I did it... ^^;; Okay, the main reason for updating was all those upcoming games seen at the E3 show and all the new artworks that Sonic Team made logically available. This explains why I didn't finish the previous update and made this one instead! I hope the next update will be the opportunity for me to complete what was supposed to be "the previous update". If you didn't catch anything from what I've just said, don't worry. That's the Maniac of PNG :P.
Last thing: depsite my recent hard drive crash (a few days before I got my new machine, three months ago), I managed to find the Sonic The Fighters artworks Try Again ripped from my lost files. Yay!

3 new little things have been added! Please forgive my laziness. I was supposed to continue the update earlier, but I didn't. And I still didn't finish updating at all.
Anyway, the famous sepia "Gerald and Maria" image (coming from the Sega US FTP, thanks go to Hell Pé and Eversonic) and more sporty Sonic X-Treme poses (coming from a huge RAR package, thanks go to Rlan) have been added. Respectively into the "Sonic" ("Other" subsection) section and into the "Groups" section.
I'll made a complete sum up of the update when I'll finish it.

An update is being made right now under your lovely eyes. But there are so many artworks to take care of that I can't make a complete one. I'll upload some things for the moment, and the rest will probably come tomorrow.
By now, you'll see by yourself all the beautiful pieces you can already enjoy. Stay tuned. ^^

Sonic section:
8 artworks, 2 nice MegaDrive pieces come from old ads and were submetted by Ben2K9. There are also two exclusive GBA artworks submitted by Cyberomer (and nicely given by the Nintendo Network website). Finally, into the 'Other' section, 4 rare and exclusive artworks submitted by Adamis and coming from Sonic comics this time (Archie and Fleetway) and a nice Sonic Chaos image provided by Ben2K9. And I was to forget the SonicX artwork Rika_chou ripped from a Flash movie ^^.
Tails section:
2 artworks, an exclusive GBA artwork submitted by Cyberomer and nicely offered to him by Nintendo Network, a French website (they originally obtained them from THQ) an also a Fleetway one that I ripped from a comic scan submitted by Adamis
Knuckles section:
1 artwork, again, a GBA one submitted by Cyberomer (it was part of all of the exclusive Sonic Advance 3 and Sonic Pinball Party artworks he gave me).
Amy section:
2 artworks, a Sonic Advance 3 one submitted by Cyberomer again and a really really nice one submitted by Adamis and coming from a Japanese SonicX colouring book (this means that I had to colour it myself :P). I really don't know how I could thank Ada more ^^.
Cream section:
2 artworks, respectively Cream and Cheese from Sonic Advance 3 and submitted by Cyberomer again.
Eggman section:
1 artwork, an Eggman scanned by Vlad from a Sonic 3D Blast manual and submitted by Adamis.
Robots section:
3 artworks, they come from a Japanese Sonic Advance manual scan made by Vlad the vampire (which explains their stamp size :P) and submitted by Adamis to me.
Miscellaneous section:
3 artworks, well, some of you may not be glad because they're not really Sonic artworks (1 Nights and 2 Samba De Amigo). But they were parts of Sonic Pinball Party, this explains why I finally put them here. Anyway, thanks go to Cyberomer and Nintendo Network for these ones too ^^.
Badniks section:
6 artworks, they all come from a Japanese Sonic Advance manual scan made by Vlad the vampire (which explains their stamp size :P) and submitted by Adamis to me.
Groups section:
3 artworks, hey-hey-hey! Comics rule! In fact, 2 respectively come from a Fleetway issue (the Chaotix group image) and an Archie one (the Freedom Fighters one). Thanks go to Adamis for those 2 nice comic scans he gave me and on which I had to clean and rip the artworks you'll see.
Other info:
The big news here is the welcome of "non-Sonic Team" art such as Fleetway and Archie comic artworks. May I recall you that those American Sonic comic series ARE official and made under lisence from Sega. So, they deserve a place here too, to my mind (and I think this should be a great news for true Sonic fans). Another thing, as you might notice it, I had so much art to take care during those 3 last months or so that I was unable to update earlier. So, I would thank Adamis, Kekun and other people who submitted all those exclusive pieces as much as I can. Also, I didn't put all I had to put into that update. Anyway, I was tired to make myself and people wait anymore so, I decided to start an update with what I had prepared and optimized for the moment. For what still remains, I'll see later ^^.

An "arrangement" has finally been made between Sonic Art Archive and the webmaster of the Sonic World website. Previously, I warned him because he was offering low-quality versions of some SAA artworks, without giving any link to SAA. In fact, He wasn't aware they came from here (a person mailed him the artwoks without mentioning their origin) and nicely accepted to offer reparations, and even an affiation proposal. So, we're proud to welcome our brand new affiliate (also, I'd like to thank Gamerguy for having been that recognizing ^^).
Other info:
Watch out, dudes! An impressive update is about to come soon, as I finished gathering all artworks Adamis had in stock! In addition, I've got some exclusive Sonic Advance 3 artworks generously given by Cyberomer and the Nintendo Newtwork website ;).
Don't forget to check previous updates via the news history, too.

Groups section:
4 artworks, lol, completely forgot those nice pieces Nathan Payne gave me. Indeed, you got it right: they're images I missed from Sonic CuLT again (they were provided during a few days as rare art). Little note: I performed a slight cleaning to remove grainy aspect (they look crisper this way and compress much better in PNG).
Other info:
Well, what you see is just the sequel of the previous update. I did have them but didn't notice them at first glance ^^;. So, don't forget to check the previous update (one Sonic X artwork + 5 badniks) via 'news history' ;).

Sonic section:
1 artwork, a very nice Sonic X pose I scanned from a cable operator booklet (France Telecom Cable) and improved a lot: color polishing and "digital pasting", I tried to do my best to put the two scans I made together in order to create the illusion of one single image (the same image was present twice but at different sizes, the biggest version being unfortunately cutted). A few cutting artifacts can be visible on Sonic's right fist however :P. You can find it into the 'Other' subsection.
Badniks section:
4 artowks, they're nothing less than scaled-down versions of some rare Sonic art shown once on Sonic CuLT. And this time, they're real Sonic 1 badniks! (thanks to Nathan Payne for providing self-made and well-done Truecolor+alpha PNG versions ^^)
Other info:
Yaaaaaaay!! Lazineeeeeessss... No, I'm not proud of that. This is mainly because Adamis gave me a lot of pictures and I can't find time to take care of them (he even has some other I didn't see yet too :P). Also, there is a nice Sonic Advance 3 Sonic pose provided by someone on Sonic CuLT, it's big in resolution, but the quality of the scan is doubtful (and the artwork is a bit cutted). But if you (and I!!) are lucky, we'll see them here very soon :P. Other things: don't panic if you see AddFreeStats buttons at the bottom of each page: I added them in order to have some web statistics (interesting information can be found this way!). And I hope that you didn't find the welcome screen I did (I even had the time to make a second version) too annoying. I'm sorry if you still have a slow connection :(.

Forgot to mention that I fixed some "non-working" links. In fact, this bug was only affecting Internet Explorer users with images in Sonic, Tails and Knuckles sections. Some images had dashes (or minus symbols) in their names. Now, I've replaced all dashes by underscores (ex: I turned 'k-d1.png' into 'k_d1.png'), so it all should be fine now and every link should be working fine, even under Internet Explorer (morality of this: stop using that sucking IE, use Mozilla Firefox instead :P).

Sonic section:
9 artworks+2 "icons", hey... what happened? It's just Rlan who drowned me of brand new and are artworks! :P First, two artworks that seem to be Megadrive ones (ont sure about that). Then, six ones I put into the 'Other' subsection because they feature some nice 'concept' art and also goodies from Sonic Labyrinth. To finish, an extra goes into 'Heroes' subsection because Rlan gave me (in addition to all the Truceolor+alpha PNGs you'll find in this update, except one) a high-resolution JPEG of what seems to be an in-game Sonic Heroes 3D model... a curiosity that I transformed into an average-resolution Truecolor+alpha PNG. Ah, I was on to forget two oddities which are nothing more than SuperSonic icons appearing in Sonic Shuffle (and ripped from the Dreamcast game -- thanks to that person for thes images, even if they are far too small :P).
Tails section:
5 artworks, one goes into the 'MegaDrive' subsection and is nothing more than the 'Tails' who stands with Sonic on the Sonic 2 cover art. The others go into the... (hum!) 'Other' subsection and are essentially Sonic Sky Patrol artworks. Thanks go to Rlan again.
Knuckles section:
1 artwork, a 'toonish' Knuckles which I don't know where it can come from and still provided by Rlan.
Eggman section:
1 artwork, another nice toonish 'Eggman in its hip' artwork provided by Rlan.
Shadow section:
1 artwork+1 replacement, she hit again... talking about the 'queen' Koji_chao. She offers us a very nice recreation of the Shadow artwork that originally came from an magazine ad and provided by Adamis some time ago. Although, after looking carefully to it, I found a few mistakes (when comparing with the old scan I had, she may have not used the same source as the one I refered to) but it's a full-quality Truecolor+aplha PNG in a reasonable size and looks far better than the version I was offering before. And this is more than a good thing! We applause Koji very loud because she did a really good work ^^. The other artwork is a very good quality Shadow artwork provided by Rlan in a reasonable size (considering it came from a scan and that he extracted the artwork himself! -- by the way, all artworks he provides me are already extracted by himself to make wy work easier ;) ) .
Miscellaneous section:
3 artworks, brand new characters we welcome into the Sonic Art Archive. They are called Beckie and Tookie (where the hell do they come from?? Please forgive the maniac of PNG's ignorance... ). The last one well known this time, it's a nice and big Nack artwork (hey, Ada... it's for you ^^).
Badniks section:
3 artworks, three *real* badniks this time (they're robots, so they can be considered as badniks... can't they my dear Ada :P), but I've no idea about the game they exactly come from (call him... Dioxaz the ignorent).
Groups section:
3 artworks, brand new group images... two feature Sonic and Tails with two radically different style (one is clearly recent while the other looks old school). the last one is a Knux+Cream+Cheese artwork.
Logos section:
2 logos, Rlan provided me brand new and rare logos again: a 'Sonic Labyrinth' one and a 'Tails Sky Patrol' one.
Other info:
We all thank Rlan and Koji_chao for the work they did. Thanks to them, the archive improved its credibility in a significant way. And that's not over!! Adamis promised me a bunch of artworks he kept during all my long absence... Will I be able to prepare and and optimize all that for tha SAA? (I didn't even see the artworks yet, so I don't have any idea about how they are :P) Only Ada can give me the answer ^^. Oh, a last thing: I changed the link to Rika_chou's vector art resource. He recently gave me a working one! Yay! We now have that beloved resource of vector version of Sonic Team art logos back now.

Sonic Section
2 artworks+1 replacement: two "Adventure 1" artworks, coming from the 10Th anniversary booklet. One is a scan I had to clean hugely (thanks to Pisuké for the image). The second is a very well done recreation made by TailS - the french fox (the atrwork was rereated from a Sonic Adventure 2 manual but it is clearly SA1 style). And to finish, the third artwork is another fine recreation of a famous Sonic Advance 2 artwork (made by TailS - the french fox again, a talented French artist).

I've just finished to complete 'out-of-date' sections (i.e. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Miscellaneous and Groups sections). Now, they should feature all the stuff that used to be on the old site. Of course, I took the opportunity to add all missing thumbnails too (letter case and redoundance problems can be fixed easily now).
Only the 'Low Quality' section still has a thumbnail problem though.
Other infos: Hivebrain also added few new artworks (one in the Amy section and one in the group section). And some fresh new ones may come soon ;).

Opening of the site to public. As you can say, the content of the site has somehow changed to offer better navigation into artwork sections and better information about artworks themselves, thanks to Hivebrain and the changes he made to the engine (using PHP language).
Also re-uploaded the entire Logo section thanks to explications he gave me. But the site put like this looks a bit new and unfamiliar to me for the moment but I'll get accustomed soon ;).
Other (incomplete) sections may come soon.
